How Lapeer Records Are Split
A booking at the Lapeer County Jail and a later court case are not the same record. The Lapeer County Corrections page identifies the local jail and its services. The Sheriff's Records Division is the county channel for records inquiries, while the county FOIA process handles formal public-record requests. A city police department may keep the incident report, and the court keeps later case information. Michigan FOIA, including MCL 15.235 and its exemptions in MCL 15.243, can affect what is released or redacted.
What the Guide Explains
The main pages focus on source boundaries that are easy to blur when looking at an arrest-related record.
- The county guide explains the official booking-record and public-record route after no public official booking roster or feed was located in the source sweep dated August 25, 2026.
- The county jail is a local detention system. A person booked after a Lapeer, Imlay City, or Almont arrest may have an agency record and a county custody record with different keepers.
- MiCOURT is the Michigan public case-search service for later court activity, subject to its stated limits and protected-case exclusions.
- Michigan OTIS is a state prisoner, parolee, and probationer locator. It is not a Lapeer County Jail roster, and nearby Thumb Correctional is a separate state prison.
Private and Independent
This independently operated guide is not part of Lapeer County, the Lapeer County Sheriff's Office, the Lapeer County Jail, the Michigan Department of Corrections, or any court. It does not host arrest records, court records, jail records, or booking photographs. Booking entries and charges describe allegations, not guilt; the later court record provides the proper context for a case outcome.
Search Partner Disclosure
Some pages include a search tool operated by an outside provider with its own results, terms, and pricing. If a visitor chooses a paid partner service through one of those tools, this site may receive a referral fee that helps support the guide. That relationship does not control the provider's prices, data practices, or search results.
